Nashville (ABC) stars Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story) as a legendary country music superstar and Hayden Panettiere as the rising teen biatch of a star.
The 2012/13 season is ideal for musical drama lovers as they are in store for an interesting and diverse trifecta. Glee uses song covers & high school musicals to tell its stories. Smash uses original songs and musical numbers to tell a Broadway play & story. Nashville follows suit with original country-pop songs.
Too bad none of the series are going head to head directly, maybe its out of respect? Yeah right, that’s the total opposite of the music industry. Anyways, Glee, the one that started it all, returns for its fourth season on September 13th (Wednesday). Smash, which was a smash hit with its first season’s 15-episode run last fall, returns again as a mid-season slot replacement (probably February 2013 on Mondays as per last season). And then there was Nashville, the new musical drama slated for an October 10th (Thursday) premieres on ABC.

aparoo says give this one a watch

I adore Connie Britton; for me, she can do no wrong after Friday Night Lights. One of my co-workers at Dish brought this show to my attention and I cannot wait to watch it. The funny thing is that I don’t even like country music! Nevertheless, this one is a must-watch for me. I work nights so I won’t be able to watch it live, but fortunately my Hopper’s Prime Time Anytime feature will catch it for me. It’s nice to know I don’t have to worry about forgetting to set a DVR timer for any of the shows on the four major networks. Here’s hoping Nashville is a hit and Ms. Britton graces our television screens for a good long time!
She brought a lot of humanity to Friday Night Lights. Then a lot of creepy horror to the first season of American Horror Story. I’m definitely interested to see her grace the small screen once again.
