I finally got around to starting Showtime’s hit series Weeds and I’ve been plowing through it — finishing season 3 tonight. While Weeds is deemed a comedy, I would call it a comedy-drama as it takes you down plenty of dramatic and thrilling paths with the kind of humour and irony that just leaves your jaw hanging open (Season 2’s finale episode stands out in my mind as one of the best cliffhanging bits ever). As with Breaking Bad (AMC), the show is an original take on your average Joe (or Jane) and their involvement in the drug-trade.

Some cast shots of Weeds:
Mary Louise-Parker (filmography) as lead role brings a special kind of human emotion plus sex appeal (as Showtime is known for its premium shows) — she’s the ideal sexy but sophisticated “widowed housewife” and suburban mom. Oh yeah and she deals weed. And she’s hot.
